Pattern formation via cell–cell adhesion and contact inhibition of locomotion in active matter

چکیده
Cell wetting and dewetting in soft substrates present a collection of non-cohesive cohesive patterns. Prediction this wide diversity is critical importance order to design experiments with polar active matter under confinement. Although vivo, cells the extracellular matrix (ECM) are enfolded by flexible substrates, at experimental realizations, hard boundaries frequently employed. Here, elastic forces exerted ECM—between deformable layer solid substrate—allow recast continuum model that takes account heterogeneous exchanges such as cell–substrate adhesion averaged repolarization due contact inhibition locomotion (CIL). Theoretical results show cell aggregation enforced increasing cell–cell decreasing CIL strength exhibit different phases from gaseous states liquids 3D clusters, agreement recent reports. diffusion grows rigidity increases, reduction ECM stiffness eases cluster formation. Emergence of embryonic pattern through contact inhibition of locomotion.
The pioneering cell biologist Michael Abercrombie first described the process of contact inhibition of locomotion more than 50 years ago when migrating fibroblasts were observed to rapidly change direction and migrate away upon collision. Since then, we have gleaned little understanding of how contact inhibition is regulated and only lately observed its occurrence in vivo. We recently revealed ...
متن کاملForcing contact inhibition of locomotion
Contact inhibition of locomotion drives a variety of biological phenomenon, from cell dispersion to collective cell migration and cancer invasion. New imaging techniques have allowed contact inhibition of locomotion to be visualised in vivo for the first time, helping to elucidate some of the molecules and forces involved in this phenomenon.

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Contact inhibition of locomotion and mechanical cross-talk between cell–cell and cell–substrate adhesion determine the pattern of junctional tension in epithelial cell aggregates
We used a computational approach to analyze the biomechanics of epithelial cell aggregates-islands, stripes, or entire monolayers-that combines both vertex and contact-inhibition-of-locomotion models to include cell-cell and cell-substrate adhesion. Examination of the distribution of cell protrusions (adhesion to the substrate) in the model predicted high-order profiles of cell organization tha...
متن کاملRegulation of contact inhibition of locomotion by Eph–ephrin signalling
Contact inhibition of locomotion (CIL) occurs when a cell stops migrating in a particular direction upon contact with another cell. Many cancer cells show Contact inhibition of locomotion when contacting one another but display contact-unimpeded migration following collision with noncancer cells. Here we review current understanding of Contact inhibition of locomotion, from Abercrombie's histor...
